It's morning! Time to rise and shine but most often we only rise to grind to the hustle and bustle of the day. Never taking a moment to slow down and enjoy the stillness of our mornings. We are either waking up with only a few minutes to leave for work, take the kids to school, or to start our daily routine. We speak into our kids, our mates, or ourselves with this aggression of hurry up, come on here, we are going to be late! For some it's grabbing our phones to pour into ourselves what's on social media, emails, and/or text messages. Clouding our minds with thoughts and images, emails, and to-do list before we even take a moment to breathe or pour into ourselves.
I recently decided that no matter what I am worthy of taking 15 to 30 minutes each morning to Pour into Myself. I am learning how to be intentional with my time. I learned a few years ago that I was so busy building my boutique that I neglected myself so much so that my stress level was so high that I broke out into hives. The doctor recommended that I stand in the shower while running cold water so that my blood vessels would not be inflamed. It took me some time to in fact it has taken some years for me to get to the point that I MATTER! It's not about who is going to support or encourage you but rather it's about your journey to self-love.
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” —John 4:10
So how can we slow down our mornings?
- wakeup an hour or two earlier
- don't pick up your phone or go to your computer. It can wait
- sit down and sip on your favorite morning beverage.
- pray and talk to God
- sit in quietness and allow the Lord to pour into you.
- breathe
- put on some of your favorite music while getting dressed.
- leave home early enough so that you don't have to rush or drive fast! The building will be there!
What a difference a Slow Morning makes? All the difference in the world! Consider starting your day with a moment of tranquility, allowing yourself to fully embrace the stillness of the morning before diving into the demands of the day. Good morning!!!
